They “skate to live and live to skate” and they are San Francisco, California based IRIS Skateboards. IRIS has come up with an awesome process to upcycle old boards to create new, and dare I say, f*cking beautiful skateboards.
Each new IRIS board is made from the wood remains of 20 previously thrashed boards, keeping them out of landfills and giving each board it’s own unique color pattern.
“We believe that skateboards should remain above ground and under your feet.”
Day By Day is a short film that gives a glimpse into the life of functional artist George Rocha. George is best known for his work making used skateboards into new functional objects. He truly has carved out an unusual life for himself by being resourceful and doing it his way.
